Doctor of Medicine...

It has been a wonderful last couple of weeks...The excitement that brewed about finding out the results Match 2016 was so AWESOME...
I was so glad to have my youngest son here with me to see Match week live...He was here for Spring Break...He opened my messages...especially the one telling us where we were going to live for the next 3 years. The funny part of opening the message on Friday, March 18th is my email was down...OMG...that made the anticipation grow...then finally, I thought let me check the NRMP website...
My son read...we are going to University of Arkansas SW...Family Medicine Resident...A sigh of relief...

So, there you have it...I will earn my Doctor of Medicine degree as of April 30th...and my specialty is Family Medicine!
Selah..

Now, go live your dreams!

  10. I'm so late but I just came across your blog. I thank you So much for taking the time to write your story! I was getting so discouraged. I'm in my early 30's and I'm still trying to get a better score on the mcat. I hear so many horrible things about the Caribbean but you gave me hope and I will apply. Xoxo

    1. Future Doctor...I'm glad you came across this blog as well...Please never let the nay sayers deter you from reaching your goals....more than like those that have spoke ill of Caribbean school do not know anything about them or have bought into the fallacy that they are not well trained, which is not the truth for Ross Graduates. Ross University place more doctors in residency than any other institution in the WORLD...Not, all school are the same, but I am a witness of Ross University commitment to making sure their graduates are competitive. Perhaps, many many years ago, there was an uncertainty. But, NOW...Our graduate are breaking down barriers and doing great things in the industry. Ross graduates are program directors, medical directors, etc. Most of the time it's not where you attend school, it's what you do with the knowledge you received. There are many US schools that did not place residents into the last Match...Do what you must to get where you desire to go. DREAM BIG, Break outside the box, Don't let fear, intimidation or any other tactic to deter you from moving forward or STOP you...On the other side, there is success...only if you do not give up!

  11. Congratulations on becoming a Medical Doctor. You have inspire me to continue my dreams of becoming a MD. Right now, I have two semesters left to earn my bachelor's degrees in education. I will continue to finish my pre-requisites for medical school next fall semester instead of going into my masters. Medicine has always been my goal. I'm thinking about AUC or Ross. Did you look into other carribean schools before choosing Ross? If so, why did you choose Ross over the others?

    1. Thank you....I only briefly looked at St.George...but. I chose Ross after going to their information seminar and spoke with graduates. Ross had a lot of support, especially being a single parent, the prep school for my son on campus and other amenities..made Ross my number one choice.
